first day of school

In case you missed it, I’m going back to school!

Sort of.

For the next 6 weeks, I will be working as a 4th grade substitute teacher at my old school.

But this year is completely different.

  • It’s only 6 weeks, not 6x6 weeks.
  • I’m teaching reading & writing & social studies, not math & science.
  • I haven’t been preparing for this specific role all summer.
  • I’ll be following plans & learning & collaborating as I go.

I’m extremely excited to be able to scratch that itch to teach for the first part of this year, but I’m equally excited to have an end date in sight. Only having 6 weeks to develop relationships and get these new kiddos where they need to be really puts everything in perspective for me in the best way.

In fact, I’m working on my subbing bucket list right now. It’s going to be the best.

So to all my people, students & teachers both, here’s to new supplies, learning bathroom procedures and no more naps!
